  • Cotton bolls have circular holes made by larvae.
  • The larvae feed with their heads inside the boll, leaving their bodies outside.
  • Granular excreta are seen near the holes.
  • The larvae can be greenish or brown.

Management

  • Follow synchronised sowing.
  • Avoid continuous cropping.
  • Avoid over use of nitrogen fertilizers.
  • Release egg parasitoid (Trichogramma spp.), at 6.25 cc/ha at 15 days interval 3 times from 45 DAS.
