Symptoms
- Small purple to brown oval lesions develop on leaves which later join to kill large portions of the leaf.
- Mid-rib infection often occurs and is seen as elongated elliptical red or purple lesions on which the reddish to black fungus growth can be seen.
- Infected stems when split open show discoloration (depending on cultivar) which may be continuous over a large area, or with more marbled appearance.
