Rhizopus fruit rot (C.O: Rhizopus artocarpi)

Symptoms

  • Rotting seen in the inflorescence and young developing fruit.
  • Greyish growth of the fungus seen on developing fruits from fruit stalk.
  • Fungus develops into a black and velvety growth and covers the entire fruit and later, fruit drops

Management

  • Remove and destroy diseased fruits from trees and the ground
  • Prune the tree for good aeration and reduce relative humidity.
  • Ensure proper drainage.
