Cercospora Leaf Spot (Cercospora papaya)
Symptoms
- Small brownish specks on the upper surface of the leaf- which increase in diameter to 2-4mm diameter
- The spots are circular with a depressed halo
- Spots coalesce together and form bigger blotches with necrotic margin and the leaf starts curling and drying
- The corresponding lower side of the leaves develop greyish brown depressed patches
- In severe cases, innumerable spots occur resulting into drying and shedding of the leaves
Management
- Collection and destruction infected leaves.
