Red spider mite (Tetranychus cinnabarinus)

Symptoms

  • Yellowish mottling of the leaves.
  • Leaves shrivel and turn brown.
  • Web spun on the undersurface of leaves.
  • Eggs are laid on the ventral surface of the leaves and are whitish, spherical in shape.

Management

  • Spray castor oil-soap emulsion or neem oil- garlic emulsion (20 ml neem/caster oil +20 gram garlic paste + 5 gram soap / litre of water).
  • Field release of predatory mite - Phytoseiulus persimilis @ 6 no/ metre square.
