Symptoms
- Deficiency of water in the foliage.
- Fungus blocks the water conducting tissue.
- Yellowing, loss of turgidity and drooping symptoms.
- Roots are not affected.
- Disease development is promoted by warm weather conditions.
- The diagnostic symptom in the plant is a circle or band of purple/pinkish-purple discoloration on the outer layers of the stem which is evident when the stem is cut.
Management
- Discard infected part of rhizome and pseudo bulb.
