Shot hole borer (Xylosandrus compactus)

Symptoms

  • Withered or dried branches with shot holes indicate the presence of the pest.
  • The attacked branches dry up fast.
  • The terminal leaves wilt, droop and dry up.

Management

  • Prune the effected twigs 2.5 to 7cm below the shot-hole and burn
  • Remove and destroy all the unwanted / infested suckers during summer.
  • Maintain thin shade and provide good drainage in the estate.
