Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata)
Root Rot(C.O.: Rhizoctonia solani)
Symptoms
- Occurs mainly at podding stage.
- Affected leaves turn yellow in colour and brown irregular lesions appear on leaves.
- Roots and basal portion of the stem become black in colour
- Bark peels off easily.
- Affected plants dry up gradually.
Management
- Seed treatment with Trichoderma viride or Pseudomonas fluorescens (20 gram / kg of seeds).
- Soil application Pseudomonas fluorescens or Trichoderma viride – 2.5 kg / ha + 50 kg of well decomposed FYM at 30 days after sowing.
- Soil application of zinc sulphate (25 kg / ha) and neem cake @ 150 kg / ha
- Spot drenching of Carbendazim 50 WP (1 gram/litre of water).
