Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans)
Lasiodiplodia die back and fruit rot (Lasiodiplodia theobromae)
Symptoms
- The disease is common in summer season.
- Disease affected leaves become brown in colour and dries up
- Characterized by drying up of twigs / branches from tip downwards.
- The bark of twigs or shoots split and dry.
- Light to dark brown lesions appear on the stalk end of fruits which later spreads downwards.
- In severe cases fruit rot and fruit drop occurs.
Management
- Remove and destroy completely infected branches
- Swab the cut ends with Bourdeaux paste
- Spraying 1% Bordeaux mixture at regular intervals during the rainy season to prevent disease incidence.
