Bean rot (Phytophthora meadii)

Symptoms

  • Rotting at tips of leaves & extended towards pedicel and results whole rotting.
  • Affected beans become soft,brown coloured and have mycelial growth.
  • Severe in rainy season.

Management

  • Remove & destroy infected beans.
  • Lop the branches of supporting standards and shade trees to ensure proper aeration.
  • Apply Pseudomonas fluroscens or Trichodermma viride – 20 g/litre of water during pre monsoon & post monsoon periods.
