Wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.vanillae)

Symptoms

  • Yellowing, wilting, shriveling of leaves, stem and beans are the characteristic symptoms
  • Brown colour in roots of infected plants.
  • Vascular tissues become brown/black in colour.
  • Rotting and drying of leaves & stem, finally vine die.

Management

  • Remove diseased plants along with surrounding soil where the disease is observed.
  • Remove weeds around the plants.
  • Mulch the base of the vine with dry leaves before and after monsoon.
  • Avoid injury to roots during cultivation.
  • Apply Pseudomonas fluroscens or Trichodermma viride – 20 g/litre of water during pre monsoon & post monsoon periods.
