Bacterial Wilt (Ralstonia solanaeiarum)

Symptoms

  • Wilting, dropping, and stunting of foliage and collapse of whole plant
  • Downward curling of leaflets
  • Vascular discolouration and browning of roots
  • Bacterial ooze is noticed when the stem is cut and dipped in water

Management

  • Crop rotation with non-hosts
  • Destroy solanaceous collateral hosts
  • Remove and destroy infected plants and disinfected the pit with bleaching powder @ rate of 15 kg /ha
  • Application of well decomposed neem cake @ 25 g/pit
  • Use resistant varieties like Surya, Swetha, Haritha, Neelima
