Bark Feeding Caterpillar (Aetherastis circulate, Ptochoryctis rosaria)
Symptoms
- The caterpillar builds galleries with faecal matter and silk all over the trunk region and branches of the trees.
- They generally feed on dead bark and occasionally on live bark causing exudation of latex.
- Deep scar is found at the regions of feeding.
Management
- PB 86, PB 235 and PB 311 are highly susceptible clones.
- Apply Fenvalerate 0.4 DP at the rate of 7 kg per hectare with a power duster.
