Symptoms
- The plant can become infected at any stage of crop growth, with symptoms initially appearing on lower leaves and spreading upward.
- Yellowing, drooping, and drying of leaves occur, with severe cases leading to complete defoliation, bending of the plant, and eventual drying up.
- Vascular bundles starting from the roots turn brown, and extending to the tips of shoots.
- Plants exhibit wilting and stem withering.
Management
- Follow deep ploughing in summer.
- Follow crop rotation.
- Collect and destroy the infected crop debris and roguing of infected plants.
- Use disease free seeds from the disease free area.
- Treat the seed with Trichoderma viride (20 gram / kg of seed) or Pseudomonas fluorescens (20 gram / kg of seed).
