Nut Splitting

Symptoms

  • Initial symptom appears as premature yellowing of nuts when they are half to three fourth mature.
  • Followed by splitting of nuts from both sides and the tips which expand longitudinally towards the calyx exposing the kernel
  • This can be considered as a physiological disorder than a disease

Management

  • Improvement of drainage and spraying of Borax @2g/l in the initial stages
