Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
Leaf eating caterpillars (Eupterote cardamomi, E. canarica, E. fabia)
Symptoms
- There are 10 species of caterpillars feeding on cardamom leaves.
- Out of these, seven species are hairy and appear in large numbers during certain seasons causing extensive defoliation
Management
- Spray neem seed kernel extract (50 g/litre of water).
- Spray Beauveria bassiana (20 ml/litre of water)
- Spray 20 gram bird pepper (kandari) extract in 1 litre of cows urine and 10 litre of water.
