Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
Clump rot or rhizome rot (Pythium aphanidermatum, P. vexans, Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum)
Symptoms
- Affected shoots become brittle and easily break off from the rhizome at the bulbous base.
- Decaying of rhizomes & stem base are common.
Management
- Inoculate suckers with native arbuscular mycorrhiza, Trichoderma and Pseudomonas fluorescens at the time of planting and apply during pre-monsoon period in established plantations at 20 gram/litre of water
