Yam mosaic disease (Yam mosaic virus. Vector: Aphis gossypii)
Symptoms
- Irregular patches of light and dark green or yellow on leaves and flowers.
- These patches usually appear on younger leaves.
- The affected leaves may become smaller, curled, or wrinkled.
- The veins might look lighter than usual or have bands of dark green or yellow.
- Plants often end up smaller, twisted, and stunted.
- Infected tubers might turn brown inside and develop brown nodules.
Management
- Avoid planting a single cultivar in a large area.
- Rouge out and destroy affected plants.
- Use disease free corms.
