Symptoms
- Irregular zig-zag tunnels can be seen in the stem.
- These tunnels will be filled with excreta.
- Gall like thickening and longitudinal splitting of stem is also noticed.
- The attack results in suppression of root and leaf production.
Management
- Destroy wild amaranthus plants growing nearby.
- Collect and destroy affected plant parts along with grubs and adults.
- Set up light trap @1 /ha to attract and kill the adults.
- Spray neem garlic emulsion (20 ml neem oil + 20 gram garlic paste+ 5 gram bar soap/litre of water).
