Symptoms
- Thrips are tiny, slender insects with fringed wings.
- They feed by puncturing the epidermal layer of host tissue and sucking out the cell contents.
- Leaves become spotted and pale (Silvery streaks) on the lower surface.
- Tips of leaves wither and turn brown.
Management
- Hang blue sticky (castor oil coated) traps@ 20 no/ha.
- Place paper or plastic mulch in the soil to suppress the emergence of pupae from the soil.
- Spray neem garlic emulsion (20 ml neem oil + 20 gram garlic paste+ 5 gram bar soap/litre of water).
