Leaf webber (Crocidolomia binotalis)
Symptoms
- Young larva feeds gregariously on leaves, later webs together the leaves and feeds.
- Due to gregarious feeding, rotting of cauliflower curds are common.
Management
- Removal and destruction of webbed bunches of leaf help to check the further spread of the pest.
- Spray 20 gram bird pepper (kandari) extract in 1 litre cow's urine and 10 litre of water.
- Mustard can be used as trap crop
- The pest is regulated by two larval parasitoids viz., Microbracon mellus and Apanteles crocidolmiae.
- Neem seed kernel extract @ 4.0 per cent or other neem based insecticides
- Bt formulations @ 500g /ha
- Natural enemies like Apanteles oblique, Apanteles sp, Enicospilus xanthocephalus, Palexorista solennis and Eocanthecona furcellata also take care of the pest in nature.
- Spray Neem seed kernel extract (50 gram/litre of water).
- Spray tobacco decoction
- Spray Beauveria bassiana (20 g/litre of water).
