Jassids or Leaf hopper(Amrasca biguttula)

Symptoms

  • The attack is usually in the early stages of crop.
  • Small, greenish leaf hoppers, nymphs and adults are found on the underside of the leaves
  • The adults and the nymphs suck the cell sap from the leaves.
  • As a result the leaves curl upwards along the margins and have a burnt look which extend over the entire leaf area
  • The leaves dried up and shed and growth of the crop is retarded.

Management

  • Spray neem garlic emulsion (20 ml neem oil + 20 gram garlic paste + 5 gram bar soap/Iitre of water).
  • Spray Lecanicillium lecanii (synonym Verticillium lecanii) (20 g/litre of water).
