Symptoms
- The pest attacks both the seedlings as well as the mature crop.
- The nymphs and adults suck the cell sap and devitalize plants.
- Affected parts become discolored and malformed.
- High humidity favours rapid multiplication of this pest.
- The aphids are mostly observed on the lower surface of the leaves.
Management
- Applying water with high pressure helps reduce the pest.
- Hang yellow sticky (castor oil coated) traps @ 20 no/ha.
- Spray Lecanicillium lecanii (synonym Verticillium lecanii ) (20 g/litre of water) or Beauveria bassiana (20 g/litre of water).
- Spray neem garlic emulsion (20 ml neem oil + 20 gram garlic paste + 5 gram bar soap/litre of water).
