Early blight(Alternaria solani)

Symptoms

  • Brown coloured circular lesions can be seen on the leaf surface.
  • These lesions enlarge and concentric zonations can be seen on the leaves.
  • A yellow halo is seen around the lesions.
  • Adjacent lesions coalesce and result in blighting.
  • Cause defoliation of leaves.
  • Lesions can be also seen on stem, calyx etc. It also spread to the fruits.

Management

  • Maintain the health of the plant
  • Use of disease-free seeds from healthy fruits
  • Removal and destruction of crop debris
