Management
Select setts from the healthy fields.
Avoid growing collateral hosts like maize, sorghum, bajra etc. near the sugarcane fields.
Remove and burn the infected plants and clumps from the field.
Soak the setts in cold water for 24 hours and then treating them either at 50 degree Celcius for 2-3 hours in hot water or moist hot air therapy at 54 degree Celcius for 4 hours.
Treating them with streptomycin sulphate 100 ppm (1 gram/ 10 litre of water) for 24 hours.
