Thippali (Piper longum L.)
Planting materials
- 3-5 noded rooted cuttings are used for planting in the field.
- In March-April, three to five noded rooted cuttings are planted in polybags filled with topsoil, farmyard manure, and sand in a 1:1:1 ratio.
- To control nematodes, add Pseudomonas at the rate of 10 grams per plant.
- Excess moisture in the nursery can cause phytophthora disease. To avoid mealy-bug attack on the roots, 10 percent of any organo-phosphorus insecticide should be mixed into the potting mix.
- Cuttings can be rooted within two weeks and transplanted after two months.
