Mealy Bug (Ferrisia virgata)
Symptoms
- They attack stored corms.
- They drink the sap of corms and cause them to shrink and dry up.
- Presence of ants on plants is the indication of mealy bug infestation.
Management
- Neem oil and garlic mixture can be sprayed on the plants (mix 20 ml neem oil +20g garlic powder +5 g bar soap in one litre of water).
- Place yellow traps at the rate of 20 per hectare.
- The friendly fungus Lecanicillium lecani should be sprayed on the plant at the rate of 20g per litre of water.
