Rhizome maggot (Formosina flavipes, Chalcidomyia atricornis, Celyplius sp., Mimegralla coeruleifrons and Calobata sp)

Symptoms

• Rhizomes, pseudostem and roots are tunnelled by the maggots
• Rotting of rhizomes.

Management

• Avoid seed material from the infested fields.
• Apply neem cake at the time of planting.
