Oriental pickling melon (scientific name: Cucumis melo var. conomon) is a vining annual vegetable of the cucumber family Cucurbitaceae, native to China and India. Most of its ingredients are water and low in calories, but it contains vitamin C, vitamin B1 and carotene. Oriental pickling melon is an important cucurbit grown in Kerala. Oriental pickling melon is largely used after cooking.
