Beet leaf miner (Pegomyia hyocyami)
Symptoms
- The maggots attack tender leaves and feed in the epidermal layers of the leaf by making serpentine mines.
- The affected leaves turn pale yellow, get distorted and crumpled.
- Such leaves gradually dry and die away.
Management
- Destroy all fallen leaves and other plant debris after harvesting of roots.
- Spray neem garlic emulsion (20 ml neem oil+ 20 gram garlic paste+ 5 gram bar soap/litre of water).
