Potato Cyst Nematode (Globodera pallida)

Symptoms

• Some areas of the field have plants that aren't growing well.
• These plants temporarily wilt, become stunted, and turn yellow early.
• Lower leaves drop off shortly after the plants sprout, followed by the younger leaves, leaving only a small bunch of green leaves at the top.
• The tubers become smaller and fewer in number.
• Small, yellow or white female nematodes can be seen attached to the roots, resembling mustard seeds.

Management

• Soil solarization
• Application of Neem Seed Kernel Extract 4% and neem cake @ 80kg/acre at the time of planting
