Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus)
Die-back (C.O.: Botryodiplodia theobromae)
Symptoms
- Discolouration and darkening of the bark occurs at some distance from the tip.
- Young green twigs start withering first at the base
- Affected leaves become brown and their margins roll upwards.
- During this stage, the twig or branch dies, shrivels and falls.
- Exudation of gum from affected branches may occur.
Management
- Pruning of infected twigs should be followed.
