Symptoms
- Hoppers suck sap from young leaves, especially from the undersides.
- The first sign of an attack is the veins turning white.
- After that, yellow patches appear at the ends of leaflets.
- At severe infestation, the leaf tips will turn brown and die, forming a V shape that looks scorched, which is called "hopper burn”.
Management
- Intercropping with pearl millet or cowpea
