Shot hole borer (Xylosandrus compactus)
Symptoms
- Withered or dried branches with shot holes indicate the presence of the pest.
- The attacked branches dry up fast.
- The terminal leaves wilt, droop and dry up.
Management
- Prune the effected twigs 2.5 to 7cm below the shot-hole and burn
- Remove and destroy all the unwanted / infested suckers during summer.
- Maintain thin shade and provide good drainage in the estate.
