Green scale (Coccus viridis)
Symptoms
- The scale sucks saps from underside of the leaves,shoots,berries.
- The continuous sucking results in loss of vigour in older plants and death of nursery plants.
- The honey dew secreted by the scale forms a film on the leaves and a black fungus (sooty mould) grows on it, which hinders photosynthesis.
Management
- Remove and burn weeds which harbour the scale.
