Root rot (Phytopthora spp., Fusarium spp)
Symptoms
- Browning of root tips leading to rotting and decay.
- Affected plants produce numerous aerial roots.
- Yellowing of leaves, stem and leaves becoming flaccid, shriveled and giving a drooping appearance.
- During rainy season rotting of roots & their shredding are seen (Phytopthora spp.)
- During summer browning & vascular discolouration of roots (Fusarium spp.)
Management
- Remove & destroy dead & diseased plants along with roots.
- Plant disease free rooted cuttings and raise nurseries using disease free planting material.
- Lop the branches of supporting standards and shade trees to ensure proper aeration.
- Ensure proper drainage
- Apply native isolates of Trichoderma harzanium and Pseudomonas fluroscens at time of planting and in main field
