Root rot (Phytopthora spp., Fusarium spp)

Symptoms

  • Browning of root tips leading to rotting and decay.
  • Affected plants produce numerous aerial roots.
  • Yellowing of leaves, stem and leaves becoming flaccid, shriveled and giving a drooping appearance.
  • During rainy season rotting of roots & their shredding are seen (Phytopthora spp.)
  • During summer browning & vascular discolouration of roots (Fusarium spp.)

Management

  • Remove & destroy dead & diseased plants along with roots.
  • Plant disease free rooted cuttings and raise nurseries using disease free planting material.
  • Lop the branches of supporting standards and shade trees to ensure proper aeration.
  • Ensure proper drainage
  • Apply native isolates of Trichoderma harzanium and Pseudomonas fluroscens at time of planting and in main field
