Snail (Achatina fulica)

Symptoms

• Damage to most of the parts of vanilla
• Attack results in weakening of plants
• Damage caused during night time

Management

• Keep the field clean
• Hand pick snails & dip in salt solution.
• Place fermented bait trap heaps( pappya & cabbage leaves) – evening times.
• Sprinkle salt over wetted gunny bags placed under shade.
• In case of severe attack, broadcast the poison bait Metaldehyde 2.5 DP (Papaya stem waste bait).
