Agathi (Sesbania grandiflora)
Climate
- They can grow in hot, humid areas
- It is best adapted to moist tropics with annual rainfall in excess of 1000mm
Soil
- It can be grown in a wide range of soils including those that are poor and waterlogged
- It tolerates saline and alkaline soils and have some tolerance to acidic soils
- Agathi may grow in alkaline, poorly drained saline, low fertility soils
- It is well adapted to heavy clayey soils
Season
- Seeds are sown during May-June
- In subtropical areas it is sown during Nov-Dec
- In tropical areas sowing is done from Oct-Jan
