Climate

  • They can grow in hot, humid areas
  • It is best adapted to moist tropics with annual rainfall in excess of 1000mm

Soil

  • It can be grown in a wide range of soils including those that are poor and waterlogged
  • It tolerates saline and alkaline soils and have some tolerance to acidic soils
  • Agathi may grow in alkaline, poorly drained saline, low fertility soils
  • It is well adapted to heavy clayey soils

Season

  • Seeds are sown during May-June
  • In subtropical areas it is sown during Nov-Dec
  • In tropical areas sowing is done from Oct-Jan
