Climate

  • Annual rainfall: 600-2500 mm
  • Optimum rainfall: 1000-1500 mm.
  • Mostly grown at low elevations areas
  • Temperature: 15 to 30ºC
  • Tolerant to drought because of the special water storage cells

Soil

  • Grown on a wide range of soils
  • Does not tolerate waterlogging.
  • Pineapple can be successfully grown in sandy loam soil and in loamy soil with plenty of organic matter added.

  • General: May-June.
