Pineapple fruit borer (Strymon megarus)

Symptoms

• The caterpillar tunnels the tissue and produces an oozing called “gummosis” on the outer side of the fruit.
• In most cases fruit borer attacks occur during flowering and formation of the fruit.

• Collection and destruction of infested fruits
