Pineapple mite (Dolichotetranychus floridanus)

Symptoms

  • These cause damage to leaves and fruits.
  • Severe infestations produce large, dark brown lesions that almost cover the basal white tissue which can lead to necrosis and death of the leaves.
  • Plants that are infested in the early stages remain small
  • Fruit production is either curtailed or non-existent.
  • Heavily infested plants may die before producing fruit.
