Water management

• Water requirement is 300-400 mm
• Critical stages of irrigation are flowering & pod formation
• Schedule irrigation at 50 DAS for optimum yield
• For summer crop give pre-irrigation after the harvest of rabi crop
• For rabi & summer crop, 5-6 irrigation is needed
• First irrigation given at an interval of 12-15 days

Weed control

• Critical period of weed competition : first 30 DAS
• First weeding should be done 15 DAS and second 30 DAS
• Weeds do not pose serious problem during summer
• One weeding is done after irrigation
