Rose (Rosa rubiginosa)

Propagation

  • Rose is propagated through cuttings. Cuttings of 25-30 cm, 1-2 cm diameter having 4- 5 nodes is taken and can be treated with IBA @ 200-250 ppm for 4 hours.
  • This can be raised in polybags and it sprouts by 1 month. Instead of polybags, nurery beds can be prepared for raising the cuttings.
  • The beds have to be mixed well with FYM, P & K fertilisers at 20: 40 kg/ha. When the plants grow up to 15 cm height apply N @ 20 kg/ha.
  • One year old rooted cuttings can be used for field planting.

Planting

  • The land has to be ploughed, leveled, pits are prepared. In good soils 45 cm3 and in poor soils 60 cm3 pits are prepared.
  • It has to be filled with FYM 3 to 4 kg, N 20 to 25 g, P & K – 20 g. The rooted cuttings can be planted in the sub-tropical regions at 1 x 1 m and in temperate regions at 1.5 x 1.5 m spacing
